Cancellation Policy and General Terms

On this page you will find our policies regarding cancellations, changes, and refunds for stays, workshops, and retreats. We naturally hope everything goes according to plan, but if circumstances change, we will always do our best to find a fair and suitable solution together.

1. Cancellation Policy for Accommodation (B&B, yurt, or other accommodation)

Our accommodations are offered through platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.com, as well as through direct bookings via invoice. The policies are generally similar, although slight differences may apply through external platforms.

Cancellation policy for direct bookings (via invoice):

  • Cancellation up to 5 days before arrival: 90% of the total amount will be refunded.
  • Cancellation within 5 days before arrival: We reserve the right to charge the following:
    • Full payment for nights already stayed
    • 1 additional night
    • 40% of the costs of all remaining nights

If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to contact us. We are always happy to think along with you.

2. Cancellation Policy for Workshops (one-day or two-day)

Our workshops are small-scale and carefully prepared. Therefore, we apply the following conditions.

Cancellation by participant

  • Up to 6 weeks before the start date: free cancellation; full refund.
  • Within 6 weeks before the start date: refunds are only possible if we are able to fill your place with another participant.

Illness or personal circumstances

We understand that illness or unexpected situations may occur. Because our workshops are small-scale, it is often difficult to find replacement participants on short notice.

Therefore, the following applies:

  • Cancellation due to illness up to 3 days before the workshop: 80% refund of the paid amount.
  • Cancellation within 72 hours before the workshop: refunds are only possible if the place can still be filled.

If a refund is not possible, we may — where feasible — offer a voucher or participation on another date.

Cancellation or rescheduling by Altai

In case of insufficient registrations, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a workshop. In such cases, you will receive a full refund or a suitable alternative.

Force majeure

In exceptional cases of force majeure, Altai may be forced to cancel, interrupt, or reschedule a workshop. Force majeure includes circumstances beyond our reasonable control, such as:

  • extreme weather conditions
  • natural disasters
  • pandemics
  • strikes
  • international travel restrictions
  • cancelled flights or transportation issues
  • government measures
  • security threats
  • infrastructure failures or airspace closures
  • illness or unforeseen absence of essential performers or facilitators

In such situations, we will always try to find a fair and reasonable solution together. Depending on the situation, this may include:

  • rescheduling to a new date
  • a voucher
  • a partial refund

Any refunds may be reduced by costs already incurred that cannot be recovered.

Altai is not liable for additional expenses such as transportation, third-party accommodations, insurance, or other personal costs. We therefore recommend arranging appropriate travel and cancellation insurance.

3. Cancellation Policy for Multi-Day Workshops or Retreats

Our multi-day retreats and workshops require extensive preparation, reservations, and international planning. Therefore, the following conditions apply.

Cancellation by participant

  • Up to 8 weeks before the start date: full refund.
  • Within 8 weeks before the start date: refunds are only possible if the place can be filled by another participant.

Cancellation or rescheduling by Altai

In case of insufficient participants, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a retreat or workshop. In such cases, you will receive a full refund or a suitable alternative.

Force majeure

In cases of force majeure, Altai reserves the right to modify, reschedule, partially adjust, or cancel programs.

Force majeure includes, but is not limited to:

  • extreme weather conditions
  • natural disasters
  • pandemics
  • strikes
  • international travel disruptions
  • cancelled flights
  • airspace closures
  • security threats
  • government measures
  • illness or unforeseen absence of teachers, artists, or organizers

If an activity cannot fully take place due to force majeure, we will always aim to provide a reasonable solution, taking the circumstances and already incurred costs into account. This may include:

  • rescheduling the program
  • a voucher
  • a partial refund

Altai is not liable for additional costs such as transportation, hotel stays, insurance, or other personal expenses incurred by participants. We therefore strongly recommend arranging suitable travel and cancellation insurance.
