In the beautiful region of Westerwolde stands our characteristic farmhouse from 1900, together with a traditional Mongolian yurt. At Altai, two worlds come together: the Netherlands and Mongolia. Our passion is sharing the beauty of Mongolian culture here in the peaceful countryside of Eastern Groningen.
About Our Farmhouse

Welcome to our characteristic farmhouse and Mongolian yurt in Wedde, Groningen.

Located in the beautiful region of Westerwolde in the northeast of the Netherlands, just 10 kilometers from the German border, our farmhouse sits on the edge of the village with many places to explore. Our farmhouse offers everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay, including a private driveway, parking area, cozy living room, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and bathroom facilities. And of course, a traditional Mongolian yurt with its own garden space. A unique place to unwind and enjoy an unforgettable countryside experience.

The Living Room

A cozy and bright living room overlooking the front garden and private driveway. The space features a comfortable sofa, a traditional box bed suitable for two children (mattress size: 185 × 120 cm), a record player, whiskey cabinet, books and photography collections about Mongolia, board games, and many other details to discover during your stay.

The Kitchen

Next to the living room you will find the kitchen and dining area. This cozy kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including a microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle, refrigerator (without freezer compartment), induction stove, kitchen utensils, and more. The space also features a round dining table with chairs and a comfortable sofa bed.

The Utility Room

The utility room connects the kitchen and sleeping area. Here you will find a table football game and dartboard — perfect for relaxing and enjoying some fun together during your stay. A washing machine is also available for guests to use.

Bedroom “Yellow”

Through the utility room you enter the sleeping area, which was once the horse stable of the farmhouse and has now been transformed into comfortable bedrooms. This room includes a double bed, a fold-out guest bed, storage chest, wardrobe, bedside table, and mirror.

Yurt Bedroom

The yurt itself is a cozy little home of its own. Combined with the guesthouse inside the farmhouse, it creates a unique mix of back-to-basics living and comfort. The yurt is equipped with two single beds and space for a baby crib.Inside, there is plenty to discover, including vinyl music and a radio, a small kitchen with kitchen utensils, kettle, coffee, cooking stove, refrigerator, and microwave, as well as a dining table with chairs, storage space, and more.

The Yurt Garden

Around the yurt you will find a private garden area with plenty of peaceful spots to relax and enjoy nature. The space includes a covered terrace with an outdoor fireplace and barbecue, an outdoor shower with cold water, and a clean compost toilet for extra comfort and convenience.

Bathroom

The bathroom area is located next to the kitchen and dining area. Small but comfortable, as we like to say. The space is equipped with everything you need, including a toilet, rain shower, sink with mirror, and hairdryer.

Around the Guesthouse

The guesthouse, located in the left wing of the farmhouse, has its own private driveway, entrance, and parking spaces. The garden is fully fenced and offers plenty of space to relax or play outside on sunny days. Along the driveway, you can hear the cheerful sounds of our chickens and pigs roaming around the farm.

Workshop “Mongolian Cuisine”
Prepare your own Mongolian dinner together with Saran

During this fun and interactive workshop, you will learn how to make authentic Mongolian dishes such as steamed dumplings or handmade Mongolian noodles under the guidance of Saran. The perfect opportunity to learn more about Mongolia, its culture, and its cuisine while cooking together. The workshop lasts approximately 2.5 hours.
